saliva is probably the best one. Personally I wouldn't use shampoo, soap or scented lotions as they can be an irritant. Baby oil is good or as someone else said, any natural cooking oils (veg or olive). What can you use for lubricant i don't have massage oil just give me some choices plz that are household?
soap, shampoo, lotion, saliva
Hair conditioner
aloe vera or regualr lotion

Anyone know what kind of oils or lubricants is good to apply on a bicycle chains? Where to buy?

Chain lubrication is a common problem for cyclists. Liquid lubricants penetrate to the inside of the links and are not easily displaced, but quickly attract dirt. ';Dry'; lubricants, often containing wax or Teflon, have poor penetrating qualities unless carried in an evaporating solvent, but stay cleaner in use. The cardinal rule for long chain life is never to lubricate a dirty chain, as this washes abrasive particles into the rollers. Chains should be cleaned before lubrication. An alternative approach is to change the (relatively cheap) chain very frequently, then proper care is less important. Some utility bicycles have fully-enclosing chaincases which virtually eliminate chain wear and maintenance.

I would speak with your local bike shop about which is the best type for your bike and the recommended procedure.

Hey guy use WD 40 lub sprayAnyone know what kind of oils or lubricants is good to apply on a bicycle chains? Where to buy?
You can buy chain oil probably at any bicycle department store. You can actually kind of oil WD40, Sewing machine oil. Walmart; Target .
K-Y Jelly
Wd-40 is what its name implies..... a water displacer.... its more of a water displacer than a lube.... a good lube would be straight 30 weight engine oil, but of course using oil requires regular oiling and cleaning.

A dry lube, a good one would have to be graphite powder.
WD-40 fixes anything like that.

Go to Wal*Mart.
CRC, WD40, Brake Fluid, Transmission Fluid, 10W/50 Motor Oil
I always use PJ1, for motorcycles, available in motorcycle shops, It wont fly off.
Castrol chain lube, it's for motorcycles, but it works well. You can find it at any Canadian Tire store.
Chain Oil, Bicycle Shop.
WD-40 is the best, walmart or just about anywere

Axe+wd40+vegetable oil=good bearing lubricant?

I don't know what axe is, and wd40 is not known as a high quality, lasting lubricant. However, among the vegetable oils, Canola Oil has the very best lubricating effects. Canola Oil is so good it can replace automotive engine oil, and hydraulic fluid also. I've actually run it in a diesel engine as engine lubricant, radiator fluid, and engine fuel, all at the same time, just to test it.Axe+wd40+vegetable oil=good bearing lubricant?
who knows what ';axe'; is and vegetable oil is for cooking, not lubrication.

WD40 is not a lubricant. it is water displacement fluid. it is designed for penetrating and not a lubricant. use some type of a specific bearing grease. they are available from any auto parts house and wont cost very much. they have them in a paste type putty or a spray type. get what will do the job you need. dont try to make your own special mix, you will only have to re-do the fix later. do it right the first time!!!Axe+wd40+vegetable oil=good bearing lubricant?
Personally for bearings I use bearing grease, it is heavier and will last longer than the other ones you mentioned. Also light oils like wd40 and vegetable attract and hold dirt and other containment's which can cause premature failure of bearings.
WD-40 may have a 1000 uses but, an lubricant it is not, it's a cleaner. Why would you go through all this trouble when you can get a good proven lube from your local Walmart ?
I don't know why you would use axe and vegetable oil.

Use the wd40 or get some triflow.

  • What kind of oil or lubricant should I use for metal parts?

I'm building a small machine as a hobby project and have a problem -- the metal parts are rusting. I have quite a few ball bearings that are supposed to roll along aluminum trim channel, and I recently found that the bearings (which had been sitting in the basement for a week or two) had rusted really badly. Is there a type of lubricant or oil that I should put on them to protect them from rust?

I also have a threaded rod constantly turning a nut, what kind of lubricant should I put on the rod to keep it turning smoothly?

That's really two questions, but they're related.. Thanks for your help! What kind of oil or lubricant should I use for metal parts?
To stop the ball bearings rusting, probably all you need to do is keep them dry. Keep them in a container (so they are not in a steady flow ot air carrying more moisture) with a packet of silica gel to take the moisture out of the air in the container. If you have something like a ball bearing standing on a flat piece of metal, water tends to get drawn into the small gap between the objects by surface tension and then corrosion starts.

For your threaded rod, the biggest problem will be actually keeping the lubricant where it does something useful. Putting some grease on the nut will probably work better than trying to keep the entire rod covered in an oil film (which would collect dust and dirt and may end up making things worse not better).

If the loads on the parts are small, you could try a brass rod rather than steel (brass is softer and more ';self-lubricating'; that steel) or use nylon nut instead of a metal one.

WD40 was originally designed as a water repellent rather than a lubricant, but if the loads on the parts are small enough so that a film of WD40 can form a ';dry'; coating on the parts and not get rubbed off when the machine operates, it will work very well. What kind of oil or lubricant should I use for metal parts?
W D 40 or similar, any good hardware store will help you and it's not expensive .
WD 40 is not really a lubricant. Motor oil or axle grease will provide lubrication and provide protection against corrosion so long as a continuous film covers the steel parts. One thing to remember is that grease will increase the amount of torque required to move parts )although not as much as pieces of rust). So as long as your drive produces enough torque, you should be ok. Graphite is a better lube in some situations as it does not increase the force require to move the parts but it will not provide corrosion protection. good luck

    Baby oil Sexual lubricant?

So on Sunday my husband and i used baby oil, instead of KY as our sexxual lubricant..

But today and Yesterday I have had frequent urinating problems, I go to the bathrrom every 5 minutes, and only a little bit comes out... and I cannot hold it in.. its like i Have to be next to a toilet every 5 seconds.. I'm also suppose to get my period today, i Have had all the cramps, zero of blood so far.

I know its not an STD or STI (or w.e they call it nowadays)

I know it could possibly and most likely is a UTI

( and I have an appoint tommorow with the doc.)

And I know it could also be asociatted with pregnancy...

but I was wondering if maybe the baby oil could have irritated or affected me in some way, or if this is a side effect of using the babyoil. I remember the same sensation the other day of this frequen urination, but thought nothing of it..

So I just want to know someone elses experienceBaby oil Sexual lubricant?
That definately sounds like a UTI which isn't uncommon if there was irritation from sex. You should always try to urinate after sex to get rid of anything that could be blocking your urethrea to prevent any UTIs. I don't know for sure if it was the baby oil, or something else, but you might want to stick to the KY next time. I think the warming silk is the best!Baby oil Sexual lubricant?
i think ur pregnant cuz i used it before and i was fine usually if u have sex before ur period u get it like the next day idk every person is different i guess good luck i hope i helped
I don't know about the irritation, but I just want to make sure you know that you can't use oil based lubricant with condoms as it breaks down the latex causing really tairs.
I've used it before and I never had a problem. Good move by checking with your doctor. Maybe the baby oil was old? I don't know if it expires or not.
I don't think its to do with baby oil.

Its more likely to be an infection.
i would go c my doctor it could be with the baby oil or u come be pregant. idk
You shouldn't be using any kind of oil as a lubricant. oil causes condoms to break down and tear. i would check to see if the oil had the ingredient glycerin in it. that is a type of sugar that the body breaks down. when it is in the vagina it can cause a yeast infection, which can be easily mixed with a uti. uti are usually burning during urination. yeast infections have symptoms of burning during urination. i would suggest going to the doctor to see how things are. if it's a yeast infection they'll tell you to go to the store and buy monostat, a yeast infection medicine. if it's a uti they will tell you that you can buy monostat for it. or you can drink lots of cranberry juice. cranberry juice will help you urinate more, and wash out any bacteria in your uthera. it should be gone in about 1-3 days, depending on how much you drink. i suggest getting regular or cocktail cranberry juice - oceanspray.

    get well soon. (:

Baby oil as a sexual lubricant?

Usually me and my boyfriend use KY jelly during sex but we find it dries out fast and we have to re-apply every so often during sex. This can get pretty costly since we're a very sexually healthy couple having sex a few times a week. Yesterday for the first time we tried using baby oil as a lube and the sensation was great but are there any side effects to this? Or is it generally good as long as its not done all the time?Baby oil as a sexual lubricant?
You should NEVER use baby oil as a sexual lubricant. Never, ever.

It destroys condoms, so if that was your method of birth control you need to go out right now and get the morning after pill.

It also can cause a vaginal infection.

Honestly, if you need that much lube I question whether or not your boyfriend is doing his job in getting you turned on enough before sex. But some women (particularly after menopause) also don't lubricate enough.

Pay for lube, it isn't worth getting an infection to save a few bucks. Silicone lubes last longer, so you may want to try one of those. Never, ever put anything in your vagina that is not labelled for that use.Baby oil as a sexual lubricant?
If you use condoms as contraception, then you're playing a risky game! Baby oil will dissolve a condom in about 30 minutes leaving you at risk of pregnancy. There are many different lubes out there now so try a different one! There are plenty that will give you different sensations, and are safe with condoms. If you don't use condoms at all then the baby oil won't do you any harm if used occasionally, but it may cause some irritation for both you and your partner. If you are finding that vaginal dryness during sex is a problem, it may be worth having a check up at your local sexual health clinic. Have fun!! :o)
VERY bad plan... baby oil will weaken (and can even *dissolve*) condoms. (Not only that but your vagina can't rinse it out very easily and it can become a nice home for infections to start).

Instead of water-based lubes (such as K-Y), try silicone-based ones (like ';Wet Platinum';)... they're condom-safe, they feel smooth as silk, they last for *hours* (even in the shower), a little goes a really long way, and they wash off right quick with just a little soap. (They're not good for siilicone-surfaced toys though: they partly dissolve the material and will make your toys all sticky).
Don't use it down there!!! it may cause infection...there are many many lubes out there for all different types of sensations and there are also some that are meant to be long lasting. Go to my website www.yourgspot.net and checkout the '; Slick Stick';. That is thick and made of Aloe for long lasting love making. There is also ';Revelation'; that reactivates with water and is waterbased, which is better for you than silicone based lube. Good Luck and have lots of fun!!! Any question feel free to ask.
You need to be careful that the mild scent in the baby oil does not cause irritation.

Also - there is some evidence that oils like baby oil can damage condoms or diaphragms - leaving you at slightly higher risk of pregnancy if you rely on these methods

Otherwise - go for it !
you shouldnt use oil based solutions on condoms

it states this in the instructions for condoms (haha)

it weakens the condoms and they will therefore be prone to snapping
Dont use baby oil me and husband both had rashes down there for 4-5 days .

I used baby oil as a lubricant.....?

and the next day my vagina started to itch really bad and still does a week later. do you think i have an infection or sometihng? and if so, what should i use to cure it!I used baby oil as a lubricant.....?
    Not a home/garden question.

And you should see a doctor. NO lubricant except water-based personal lubes should be used for sex (or even regular moisture needs). You probably do have an infection.I used baby oil as a lubricant.....?
go to women's health and post this question, not really a home %26amp; garden question

Can vegetable oil be used as bicycle lubricant?

for the chain and other places on the bikeCan vegetable oil be used as bicycle lubricant?
Never ever use any vegetable-based lubes or vegetable oil on a bike. It will harden and become rancid. On top of that, it is mostly an anti stick agent, not a lubricating agent so although it might stop things from squeaking for a short time it doesn't stop the wear and doesn't do the job of a correct lubricant.

Other lubes not to use are 3 in 1 oil, silicone spray, WD40, Liquid Wrench, and motor oil. Can vegetable oil be used as bicycle lubricant?
Vegetable oil will get gummy and collect dirt. You should always use the proper lubricant. You should never oil a dirty chain, it will wash the grit into the pins and rollers.

for the chain maby, for other parts no. You should use 10W motor oil, eccept for the bearings in the tire system you need special lub. for them.

Sorry. I guess I'm a little jaded after listening to all my liberal friends ***** about the environment while they are driving the biggest cars of all my friends. Me being more conservative and at fifty years still commute to work by bicycle (8 miles each way). Sorry about that but thanks! Report Abuse

I think that will take quite a long time.

In either case much of the limestone oil is pressed out with hot water, so I would assume in most cases the oil will be replaced with water.
The find is only 4 miles below the sea floor, and it is 4000 miles to the centre of the earth. It is not a lubricant, it is just sitting there doing nothing (edit - it's actually a gas inside sandstone). So don't worry, extracting it will cause zero problems to the underground earth.

As far as the impact on the immediate environment, I presume as usual, a hole will be drilled in the ground a few inches in diameter. So as long as there aren't any accidents, there will be nearly no impact to the environment around the discovery. I guess there may be a pipeline though...

The main impact this discovery will have is to the greenhouse effect. If the deposit is as large as they hope, it will make up 1 or 2% of the world reserves in the coming years.
The oil was found very deep, deeper than any previous oil wells in the US. It is costly but the rewards should outweigh the costs. It doesn't act as a lubricant, nothing is moving there and It shouldn't effect the ecology of the ocean and will have no effect on the earth's balance (I'm not sure what that is). Even if there are spills, the oil will only have a temporary effect and will rapidly be eaten by bacteria.
No but it will squeak a lot as it goes round.
    Ugh, NO!

Oil / Coal are recent developments in the whole of earth's history from 200-50 Million years. What the hell do you people smoke in the morning?

Oil is a byproduct of plant and animal decay over time and pressure.

Oil is generally either infused in limestone, sandstone or claystone layers. The deepest drilling we go to at this point is about 3 miles which is a virtual pinprick on the surface of the planet.

    .
It is non-sensical to think that minor activities caused by humans can have an effect on the planet. I am sure if all the nuclear weapons were exploded in one underground area there would be some noticable effect, but not drilling into the crust in the Gulf of Mexico. It would take a collision with a major asteroid to make a noticable shift on the Earth.
That is a good question. I wonder if it will increase or decrease the frequency and intensity of earthquakes.

Someone said it will take a long time - I wonder if that person meant we should not worry about it since it won't happen in our lifetime. I think that is a rather ignorant viewpoint.
It is highly possible, but the plates under ground shift all the time...they shifted before we stated drilling, but it is a certainty that we can't be helping matters by drilling holes in the earth %26amp; sucking out it's contents!!

Can I use engine oil ';additives'; to my 1911 Pistol as lubricant?

it is not advisable to use engine oil additives on your 1911 pistol or any airsoft gun since it will lessen the life of your bushings.

any airsoft gurus or gunsmiths would advise you to use a silicon spray or silicon grease in lubricating your airsoft guns.

  • Is it ok to use baby oil as a vagina lubricant?

no you want to use a water based lube to help prevent infections and other health problems. Is it ok to use baby oil as a vagina lubricant?
no it's not ok but water soluble lubricationIs it ok to use baby oil as a vagina lubricant?
No! Oil rots condoms causing them to break. Also this can cause dryness and aggrivation during and after sex. Try a water based lubricant that will be kind to your body and feel even better!
NO! Better to get something that is water soluble. It will easily wash off and prevent infections!!
    NOOOOOO
no no no no no... spent the little extra money and get something made for that...like the old faithful KY
no it wasn't made for that ky jelly is tho
ofcourse if you want wart and pimples to grow down there
NO it produces an infection after using it for a long time!!!
NO. It is not safe to use with condoms and can cause a yeast infection or a bladder infection. Stick to a water based lube to be safe.
Absolutely not. That is one of the worst things to use and it will break down the latex if you are using a condom. You should get KY at the very least.

You need to keep the PH balance stable to have a healthy vagina.
ever heard of KY personal lubricant
Its not ok it will cause an infection.

How about... Valve oil as Axle Lubricant.?

Has any company put out a good personal lubricant/massage oil that isn't ';warming';?

Ok...I know there are alot of odd-balls on this site that will find this question hilarious, but I'm hoping there are also some people on here mature enough to give constructive feedback.

I was at the store and saw that KY just put out a massage oil that is also safe as a ';personal lubricant';, meaning it's safe to have ';down there'; as well as on your back or whatever. The problem is, it's a warming lubricant and the last time I tried one of those, a very painful tingling is what I got instead of ';warming';.

I am on the shot for birth control, and since I have been in a monogomous relationship with my fiance for almost 3 years now, STD's are not a concern either, so if you know of a massage oil that's also safe as a personal lubricant, but isn't condom safe, please let me know about it anyway.

Thanx.Has any company put out a good personal lubricant/massage oil that isn't ';warming';?
I don't know of any massage oils that aren't warming, but there is a lubricant called Wet. And that is just what it does.Has any company put out a good personal lubricant/massage oil that isn't ';warming';?
KY does make a non-warming lube its just that the warming stuff sells better you can try other stores CVS has a good selection
K+Y makes both kinds of lube. Regular and warming. if you goto Wal-mart in the pharmacy area look for it there. Equate makes the same thing but it is generic priced. Thats what me and my wife use when we play.

good luck and have fun with it.
I sell Pure Romance products. They have tons of lubricants that don't warm.

    Hope that helps.
The one I like the best is EROS. You can go to the web site and check it out. WWW.EROS.Com

It doesn't get warm or sticky. It also lasts a long time. It is a little pricey but well worth it.
Try ';Kama Sutra'; brand flavored and scented oils. they are not formulated to be warming oils. I have only found them in adult book stores or alternative medicine stores.
    regular KY

also stay away from flavored lubes unless they say sugar free (not trying to be funny) they can cause yeast infections!!
I've always used the Astroglide liquid. I hate the jellys and I won't even touch anything that includes flavoring or a warming agent.
KY Jelly is not warming. It is the standard for lubricants although baby oil is used for massages.
The last KY I had was not warming. I also had some stuff called Wet a while back, not sure where my hubby got it, but it was just a straight lubricant, not warming.
They have Ky the original kind, but something that works well massages is the baby oil gel I love it and it makes you skin glisten!
KY, Astroglide, dollar store personal lubricant, sliquid.....etc...

I also do not like the ';warming'; lubricants. Feels more like BURNING to me!

Will drinking olive oil, Make my Vagina more lubricant when making love?

I have been told that drinking Olive Oil, makes your inside of the body more lubricant will using this method make your vagina more lubricant when becoming aroused or penetrated??Will drinking olive oil, Make my Vagina more lubricant when making love?
Olive oil is an organic oil with high carbon and hydrogen content. The scientific term for oils, fats, waxes, cholesterol and other oily substances found in living things and their secretions is lipids.

3.5 ounces meaning 100 grams of olive oil contain pretty much 100 grams of fat, about 14 g of saturated, 73 g of monounsaturated, and 11 g of polyunsaturated fats, while being void of carbohydrates and protein. This means a very high calorie content, so watch out, you will gain some weight here quickly.

Evidence from epidemiological studies suggests that a higher proportion of monounsaturated fats in the diet is linked with a reduction in the risk of coronary heart disease. This is significant because olive oil is considerably rich in monounsaturated fats, most notably oleic acid.

Other than applying the olive oil to your skin, there are no known other health benefits, for sure it is not going to help you produce more lubrication.

However you could drink a lot of water which will create an abundance of fluids in your body and make secretion in your vagina easier. Will drinking olive oil, Make my Vagina more lubricant when making love?

you should actually post questions like this in the health section..but since you are here, you should only use water based lubricants such as k-y and play for example, as they are highly unlikely to cause irritation in sensitive areas...oils, such as the ones you speak of, cause an allergic reaction and irritation in some people. i would suggest using the oils for body massage, and the tried and tested drugstore lubricants for ';other'; activities. have fun!

I know i asked this question this morning but i needed more input. Is there anything wrong with using used motor oil as personal lubricant?
    Same answer to same Question

Yeah It's bad for the environment you should try bacon grease you will soon have a pack of large women following you around. Which is always cool, plus you might find a Stray Dog or two following you around which will protect you to the death from rabid Squirrels and Angry Badgers. It's win win.Is there anything wrong with using used motor oil as personal lubricant?
    yes.
I think it's cool if you're going to pork your buick.
Go ahead, see if it falls off or something
    no idea
    Knock yourself out.
    Try Crisco
It depends, where you are going to put the dip stick?
Of course not. Just keep on using oil on your dick. Maybe you'll win a Darwin Award. HA!
Because petrochemicals when ingested can cause cancer?
How does HE feel about it?
Yes, this would be very stupid becuase it would inflame your skin and would not be healthy , petroleum distalates are not human friendly...buy baby oil or petrolieum jelly which are not same as motor oil
only a multi blend in the winter..
Motor oil, new or used if in contact with the skin for more than a few seconds, is very cancerous. But hey, it's your life, your call.
yes ... If you like it super slick....and your skin and other things will be oiled up real good..
    yes
It's not as pure as a petroleum based personal lubricant, such as baby oil or petroleum jelly. Some impurities will include heavy metals...like lead and mercury. That is why you should definitely wash your hands after changing your oil in your car and why petroleum products for your car are not interchangeable with petroleum products for your body.
    Gross!
Be sure and filter it first. Gets any metal out. What, your going to ';do'; your Nash?
yea....can u say unsanitary and infection!!! and not to mention...GROSS!!! get some KY
    yes its gross
i see no problem with that

    Condom oil/ lubricant harmful?

What if my partner takes the condom inside her mouth while i am wearing it for my pleasure, can the oil/lubricant on the condom could be harmful to her?Condom oil/ lubricant harmful?
it can if she is allergic to latex and lubricant but while your in her you would have known if she was.. but no it's fine...

hey atleast your the only one who's said anything about condoms..lol...i've bumped into like 7 std question and non talked about condoms.. good for you... be safeCondom oil/ lubricant harmful?
First, a word about oil and condoms...There are no oils used in the lubricant-oils degrade latex so the condom may shred. Only water-based lubricants should be used with latex condoms. Polyurethane condoms are available that you can use with oil based or water based lubricants if that is an issue or if latex allergy develops.

About the oral sex...If the lubricant contains spermicidal nonoxynol-9, that can be an irritant and may make her mouth go temporarily numb so those should not be used. The non-spermicidal condom lubricant isn't harmful but tastyes yucky (so I've read, lol!). Ideal for that situation are flavoured condoms which should be from a major manufacturer. There are some ';novelty'; condoms which are useless for disease or pregnancy control. If you switch to vaginal intercourse afterwards, you should slip on a regular condom jsut in case her teeth may have damaged the latex.

Im 2 months pregnant. Is it safe using baby oil as lubricant while having sex?

I used it once before i got pregnant, not to go into details or anything, but i found that it irritated me, i dont think its really intentend for that kinda use, so id use ky jelly or vaseline for lubricant, as irritation or an infection down below is the last thing u need while pregnant. Not just because of babys safety either, you so do not need extra discomfort on top of a million and one pregnancy symptoms.Im 2 months pregnant. Is it safe using baby oil as lubricant while having sex?
i wouldnt suggest it! if you have to use lubricant to have sex while pregnant then maybe you shouldnt be having sex! women sex drive do actually do down when pregnant while others may go up! ....HOWEVER if you have always had this problem then speak to your DR about it!Im 2 months pregnant. Is it safe using baby oil as lubricant while having sex?
no its not. use ky jelly. whats so wrong with that?
I wouldn't use it.Why not buy KY jelly???Or speak to your doctor.
Your cervix is plugged with mucus during pregnancy so there's no danger of the lubricant getting up to the baby. Just make sure it's water-based if you're using condoms since petroleum-based products will put holes in them.

    Try sticking to KY
i don't think so! baby oils have a lot of perfumes in them...you should really call your Dr. or any Dr. if your embarrassed.
NO, get KY Lotion. I personally recommend the Warming one. :)
NOOO baby oil shouldnt be used as a lubricant. Get something that is actually used for that purpose. KY Jelly or something to that nature. Those things are created so they dont cause problems with your body. Infections, and whatnot!
I would say yes it is safe, but I would check with your doctor to be 100% sure. If it's not, I'm sure that they can tell you what is safe.
you shouldnt need lubricant if you're man is doing his job. a little fore play will do the trick to get you moist enough to do the deed. if your talking about the back door and are lubing up use something made for such use, baby oil is absorbed by the skin and has no antioxidents to kill bacteria. there are lots of products for that try KY , or lube glide. go look by the condoms in the drugs store there's plenty to choose from. but no on the baby oil.
Why don't you try using something that was actually made to be a sexual lubricant like Astroglide or KY. That's not what baby oil was made for and I doubt it's good to use it like that.
Baby oil is never safe to use as a lube! It isn't water soluable and could lead to serious infections and complications with your pregnancy. Use KY Jelly or something to that nature. If desperate for a quick lube my OBGYN suggested using egg whites.
    NO use something like K.Y
no, i dont think that's such a good idea..it just doesnt sound right..
You can read the article in the link provided to decide but I would advise you to talk to your obstetrician for expert advice. Congratulations and may you have a healthy and happy baby.
You shouldn't use baby oil even if you aren't pregnant
Yes, it is safe, although I don't think it works very well because it absorbs so quickly. KY or Ultraglide still works the best.
You should ask your doctor to be safe. If your too embarrassed, then I say to go out and buy some lubricant that is made just for that. The reason is because baby oil isn't made to go in your ';down there'; so it might cause infection or something. You should always be safe than sorry ;-) Besides, the small little bottles of those lubricants are really cheap!

You shouldn't use baby oil as a lubricant even if you weren't pregnant.

Any info on maintaining an outboard motors, especially concerning engine oil and lubricant in lower case?

I just bought a 65 hp mercury outboard motor w/my boat and the plug in the lower case was taken out and stored in a bottle. this is my first boatAny info on maintaining an outboard motors, especially concerning engine oil and lubricant in lower case?
There should be two plugs in the lower case. Take out the topone. Get ne3w marine gear oil. after you get it open, stick nozzle into bottom hole. Queeze bottle untel oil come out of top hole looking new. put bottom plug in and install top one. Now your ready to go. When you store your motor for the winter, do this over again to insure there isn't any water in the lower unit. Cause if there is, it will freeze and bust the lower unit.Any info on maintaining an outboard motors, especially concerning engine oil and lubricant in lower case?
I add Info as I think.

This is a good Engine for the size. Use a 50:1 Fuel mix. Most times it like a 16 ounce can to 6 gallons gas. As stated above find the top plug. It on the Right look from back of Engine just above the flat part, it about in the Middle, no other screw, about 12-18 inces above the bottom screw. Yes!!!! That it, you see it then, good! You can fill as stated above. What I do is take a 1 gallon Yard Sprayer and remove the spray wand. May want to round the end a little to seal better. Put your Lower Unit Lube or a Good Rear End Lube for cars (Ask Auto Part store, some know what the people using for their boats). Put the Lube in the sprayer and pump it up. Then fill from bottom until the lube come out at the top, this keeps air moving up and out. Put the screws in and you got it. Check the screws for seal damage too. Out boards are easy to maintain. In winter you can Run out of gas and it should pump up next spring with fresh fuel and start. OR, Get some ';Ear Muffs'; they a Muff looking thing for running the boat out of water connected to a garden hose (Never run for long periods without water, Impeller over heat and that not good). Wal-Wort sell them. Every week start and run the Boat (Put fuel Stabilizer in for winter. DO not run at very high RPM out of water. May want to Charge battery once a month in winter. STORE with Engine down if outside. Rain get in a pocket area behind the prop and if it freeze it may crack the Housing, keep down the water stay out. When you start, check the little ';Pee Hole'; Just below the Cowling around the Engine. Be sure water come out, it just an indicator that the Water Pump Working. If, it not Pee check first if it is Clogged. Dirt Dobbers love these little holes.

Steering Cable @ Engine. DO NOT GREESE THIS! It just pockets water and rust up. IF, it been Greesed, get a can of Carb Cleaner and clean it off best you can. Spray with a Silicon Spray. I just kept a can under the cables so it not blow out and turn Steering until it all way out and spray it good once a week/month not matter, what feels best to you, a can last a long time.

Control Box. The biggest problem here is the greese inside get old and hard and then you have a part wear out. IF, you can learn how to open and clean and add fresh greese (Lightly coat) about every 3-5 years you never have a problem.

Can Vitamin E oil be used as lubricant?

    i was told it could.

Although the bottle said external use only. Can Vitamin E oil be used as lubricant?
That means that you don't eat this vitamin E oil. It's not refined for ingestion, only for massage or as a sex lube. You wouldn't eat KY liquid jell either. The capsules are refined high enough for consuming.

Yes it can be used as a lube and really healthy for your penis and skin.

It keeps skin soft and protects the sensitivity of your penis head by holding moisture and skin softness and is especially good in helping a circumcised guy that way. It's good for non circumcised as well.

I think that your going to really like it.

Me! :- )Can Vitamin E oil be used as lubricant?
It can be - but not preferred. It is more of a healing oil than a lubricating oil. Plain old Vaseline works well.
You could but it is not such a good lubricant. External use means, do not ingest it.

  • What is a great general purpose lubricant/oil for moving metal parts?

    Hello,

I have been researching lubrication recently for metal objects, I purchased this product that seemed to be similar to WD-40, it is silicon based but it doesn't really seem to lubricate. In fact, WD-40 doesn't really lube things up either it seems. It seems to remove any existing lubrication and end up with a purely metal on metal finish.

What I am imagingin to be the best in this field is a spray of a product like WD-40 onto the surface as a sort of cleaner followed by a good grease or lube to squirt onto something like a bicycle chain, some sort of hinge or whatever may be a metal on metal moving part.

Any ideas on what product or item would be best or most ideal for this application?

Thank you! What is a great general purpose lubricant/oil for moving metal parts?
wd 40 and silicone lube are not the same and probably will work for light duty stuff like hinges but for chains or something that needs the lube to stick and stay I would recommend a chain lube or a lithium grease as they stick to the surface and provide a long lasting lube. What is a great general purpose lubricant/oil for moving metal parts?
heavy duty bearing grease found at any automotive supply
if you are trying to lube something that is outdoors like gears and such use a type of grease or thick motor oil..... on stuff indoors i would use a little liquid soap or vaseline

What does 'lube' or 'lubricant' really means ? except for the auto lubricant oil?

is it available in our kitchen ?What does 'lube' or 'lubricant' really means ? except for the auto lubricant oil?
sure, vegetable oil, butter, margarine or crisco are all 'lubricants'. It basically means anything that reduces friction or sticking. What does 'lube' or 'lubricant' really means ? except for the auto lubricant oil?
Yea it's available in our kitchen.

Lubricant is a substance such as grease or oil, that reduces friction when applied as a surface coating to moving parts.

Most common type lubricants are -

    1. Water - It can be used in its own or as a major component in combination with one of the other base oils.

    2. Mineral oil - It is used to encompass lubricating base oil derived from crude oil.

    3. Vegetable (natural) oil - These are primarily triglyceride esters derived from plants and animals. For lubricant base oil use the vegetable derived materials are preffered. Common ones include high oleic canola oil, palm oil, sunflowerseed oil and rapeseed oil from vegetable and Tall oil from animal sources.

    4. Synthetic oils -

    Polyalpha-olefin (PAO)

    Synthetic esters

    Polyalkylene glycols (PAG)

    Phosphate esters

    Alkylated naphthalenes (AN)

    Silicate esters

Can Emotion Lotion warming massage oil also be used as a lubricant?

I have no knowledge of this product myself but I will warn that many lubricants can cause damage to condoms so are to be avoided should a condom be the only form of protection used. I believe KY Jelly is safe for use with condoms. Also check the label etc for any warnings. The oil may not be suitable for contact with mucous membranes (ie lips nose etc) and genital areas. Can the lubricant oil make engine feel different than before?

i bought a new car so it came with the factory's engine oil and i made sure i didnt have to replace the oil earlier than the oil life indicator's indication (because I was told by 3 different technicians - two from a dealer and one from a oil change shop - the new vehicles no more carry the problems with break-in oil or something like that).. so I changed it at like 7k miles at JIFFY LUBE where they use the synthetic oil and ever since the first oil change, my car was driven about 500 miles. And recently I notice it makes a little different acceleration when I pedal between 40-60mph.

So my question is, does the engine oil cause this kind of change? Can the lubricant oil make engine feel different than before?
Better oil or lower viscosity oil can often make a noticeable improvement, but on a new engine the piston rings are probably just starting to seat (break in) properly so you should be starting to get better compression too.Can the lubricant oil make engine feel different than before?
synthetic oil is different in composition...

yeah itll prolly make a difference because dealers use plain ol oil lol the non synthetic stuff its just the way the oil lubricates the parts of your engine no big deal
the better the oil the better the engine will get lubricated, and it will also help it to run a little smoother, the best oil for this is a synthetic oil ,they lubricate a lot better and last a lot longer than conventional oils do,they are worth the extra cost ,good luck.
Yes oil can certainly make this sort of difference.

Dodgeman- if you read this, do some research on oil- there are some non synthetic oils which will outperform synthetics, based on their superior load carrying abilities. But in most cases, on average- synthetic VS mineral, synthetic is typically better.

    Cheers
The car is just in the process of breaking in. It will feel different for a while as it adapts to being used. I would say change your oil every 3K, not 7!!!

Is olive oil a safe lubricant to use? I heard that it doesn't kill sperms?

I heard that your best bet is preseed, although I know a few women who swear by pasteurized egg whites and canola oil. I'd go the preseed route if I were you.

Good luck!Is olive oil a safe lubricant to use? I heard that it doesn't kill sperms?
I'm not sure if it kills sperm or not...my guess would be no. But you really shouldn't use any kind of oil for lubricant. It coats the vagina and can mess up the natural balance of things. I would say go with KY lubricant or Astroglide--they're made specifically for that and (I'm pretty sure) safe to sperm. Is olive oil a safe lubricant to use? I heard that it doesn't kill sperms?
I cant recall where I read this but it did say that any veggie based oil was the best lubricant. It also said that using petroleum jelly kills sperm
The best lubricant to use while TTC is preseed.

It is proven that it doens't affect your chances in TTC.

I don't know if Olive Oil is safe.

    I wouldn't use it personally.
I have read conflicting evidence, best thing to use is preseed at the moment which you can by on line through lullaby.
I have heard of people using olive oil as a lubricant however, I am not sure you should use it if you are trying to concieve. Your vagina needs to stay at a certain ph level if you accidentally use to much it might throw you ph level off and cause other issues. Thus making your environment not sperm friendly. I would recommend you try Preseed as it is designed to mimic CM and has helped a lot of people conceive that had issues with CM. I know it can be expensive but you can get it on ebay.com for 14.50 for a 6 pack that includes shipping and 2 pregnancy test. Hope that helps! Thanks
    rather use preseed!
    no ouch!
no lubricants are not safe to use coz it may bring infection... it doesnt kill sperm and still youll get pregnant but whats the need to use lubricants if you want to be pregnant, the bodies has a lubricant your genitalia has a lubricant, and for your imformation when the vaina is dry it indicates that you will not get pregnant even if you have sex..

lying-in delivery clinics in some remote parts of the Philippines use baby oil as lubricant during baby delivery, is this a safe practice?Use of baby oil as lubricant in the delivery of a baby...is it safe?
My doctor used mineral oil, I think. I don't know what's in baby oil.Use of baby oil as lubricant in the delivery of a baby...is it safe?
Why would you need a baby oil as a lubricant? I never had any lubricant during my deliveries, the baby's pretty lubed up already. There's no way I would let someone put baby oil on or in my hooha.
i wouldnt want it on, much less, in my vagina. i imagine it could cause some major problems or at least some kind of infection.
As long as it is pure mineral oil it should be perfectly safe. Mineral oil is drying to the tissue so it isn't the best choice, and baby oil tends to be scented which increases the odds of a reaction or yeast infection. Then again some sites recommend vitamin E oil which can be toxic in small doses if ingested by a baby.

    http://www.nordicgroup.us/oil.htmLubricant oil question?
The number that you quoted 5W/40 referes to the thickness of the oil over a range of temperatures.

The W is a Winter or Cold indicator. 15W is much thicker when cold than a 5 or 10W.

If the oil is too thick, then it will not circulate in the cold and you will sustain more engine wear.

the 40 indicates the oil thickness at normal operating temp.

Please also be aware that you should not use normal car grade oil in a motorcycle engine, espeically if yours is a Wet Clutch, as car oils have additives like PTFE to encourage slippage which will penetrate your clutch. Car oils may also have different amounts of anti-foaming agents etc.
    4
Before multi-viscosity oils it was necessary to run 30 wt oil in the summer, and change it out to a lighter oil in winter.

Multiple viscosity oils made it possible to run the same oil across a wide range of climatic temperature ranges. A 5w40 was capable of accomodating a cold climate where a 5wt was necessary, but could also accomodate temperatures requiring a 40wt.

Some brands of oil are better than others, and all oils are 'rated' for their lubricity, or lubricating ability. The highest rating is GL-5, but it's almost impossible to find anymore because it's harder to refine. But it's out there. I get mine in 55 gallon drums from a Texaco distributor, but I live in an oil town that has alot of industrial stuff going on.

Out in the urban sprawl you may have a hard time locating it.
Here is is plain and simple; single weight oils are going to be thick when cold, thin when hot. The higher the number, the thicker at any temperature.

Multi grade (weight) oils don't thin out nearly as much as the temperature increases. For example, when cold, a 5W40 is going to be as thin as a single grade, 5 weight oil would be at that same temperature. When hot, it's going to be as thick as a single grade, 40 weight oil would be. That applies to all grades of motor oil whether it's a 5W30 or a 20W50.

In the good old days, if you had 30wt oil in your engine and you went out on a 0 degree morning, the oil was st stiff you were lucky if you could even get the engine to turn over. Running a 10 wt oil in winter solved the starting problem, but when the engine was up to operating temperature, the oil was as thin as water and did a poor job of lubricating.

Pligrim, I hope you're not using GL-5 in your engine, it's a differential oil. It stinks because it has lots of sulfur to resist shearing forces.
5 weight oil ...very thin and light, with the help of a catlyst turns into a 40 weight oil when heat is applied to it
and the other oil you want to compare it too

15w-40 has a cold cranking wieght of 15... (w for winter) and is a 40 weight at operating temp, so it'll flow a little better then the 20w-40. Synthetic oils usually come in a wider range of viscositys like 0w-30, 5w-40 and such. Takes alot... too much volume index improvers and such for conventional, that the oil would go out of grade in no time... different manufacturers have a small difference in wieghts... one may be a high 40 wieght, the other a low 40 weight at operating temp. Just sticking with name brands insure quality. What is mean by 15w40 , 20w40 grade in Lubricant oils. how can we choose lub oil for our vechile.?
the grades refer to viscosity and composition of the oil. Your vehicle manual should have instructions on the type to use. make sure you don't mix synthetic and standard oils

Is baby oil a good lubricant?

Can it be used with condoms? Can it be ingested? Is baby oil a good lubricant?
    No, no and no!

It doesn't get easily discharged from your vagina and can make a good home for infections, it weakens (it can even *dissolve*) condoms, and while it *can* be safely ingested, it tends to give you the runs.

Use water-based lubes: K-Y, Astroglide, Wet, or similar stuff. Is baby oil a good lubricant?
No. Baby oil is for external use only. Also, never use any oil-based lubricants with condoms because it will cause breakage. Use a special, water-based lube that is okay for inernal use. I suggest KY.
NO. Baby oil is oil based, and will eat holes right through the condoms. So will vaseline. How about you buy something that was intended to go with condoms?

Anything oil based will cause the condom to break.
No, on the bottle it says external use only. Only use lubricants that are specifically formulated for use with condoms etc...
Avoid oil based lubricants (vaseline) with condoms because that can cause them to wear down or break, and you don't want that. Stick to water based like astroglide and KY.
No. Read the label silly!!! External use only. I suggest water based lubes. AND make sure you can use them with condoms. Why dont you just get lubricated condoms?

From my experience, coconut oil is best. It is inexpensive and widely available at health-food stores. It comes in a glass jar. Even though it is a bit solid in the jar, when it is allowed to warm to room temperature, it easily dissolves into the skin. It is harmless to the tender tissues of the vagina and has antiviral and antibacterial properties that are very helpful.

Wtf? Don't listen to katia she obviously don't know what she's talking about. You need lube for anal sex! Idk about the baby oil. It's bad for condoms but you went in raw! You shouldn't be going in raw unless her whole Bowles are empty. If pooping is not enough douching and enemas will work. She should also maintain a high fiber diet! Keep everything moving along. Is baby oil a good lubricant?
Not using a condom is not that bad. If you trust her and she does the same anal sex without a condom if fine. Baby oil is not the best lube for anal but you can use it. I have used it before and everything is good. Using a better lube like KY is much better. The baby oil will not cause harm to either of you. Be careful when you use baby oil because you do not want that in her vagina.
why did you need lube? this was your first time trying it unprotected? once you two dont rush into having sex... in other words, once you have some sort of foreplay( whatever you two decide on) oral sex is good if you both get real clean first. here is my advice. drop the oil unless you really like it wet. natural lube is awesome. try using your hands to get her excited. dont rush.rub, lick, and her body will respond naturally. have her do the same for you and you will see your natural lube as well. but just like the ';***'; it will eventually come back down. the oil is harmless. sex is good when there is nothing between you... if you know the person well enough. if you trust them. trust me you wil be very much pleased to see her natural juices lubricating you. it does somehing to the ego. gets youmore excited
You shouldn't use baby oil as a lubricant - because you shouldn't not use a condom! You can get water based lubes at any pharmacy,
No I wouldn't use it. Go and buy one and ask your question in the proper catergory.

At what temperature do conventional motor lubricant oils boil?

Data from the manufacturer's will either list not available or things like %26gt;600F or %26gt;400F. It will depend on the brand because these oils are mixtures, it is a complicated mater to measure ';the'; boiling point since they will act more like individual components as the temperature rises. If you have a specific one in mind, do a search for the name and 'MSDS' to find the public data sheet. At what temperature do conventional motor lubricant oils boil?
I know Amsoil synthetic oils volatility(how easy the oil vaporizes) is much lower than petroleum based motor oils and lower than other synthetics: http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g1971.pdf

    That lubricant oil?

I see people that have stuffcalled ';Lubricant Jelly'; What is that? That lubricant oil?
It's for sex, usually anal sex but also if your vagina is too dry. That lubricant oil?
it is to help the peanut boutter and bread go down more easily
    lol.....oh go do your homework.

    Yeah...it's for sex.
If you're having sex and don't know what lubricant jelly is used for ';Please stop having sex'; until you really know everything!'; Or maybe you don't know because you're naturally lubricant, then don't worry about it.
it's something that can make ur first butt ride a little more comfy!
    its used for sex

  • If oil is more viscous than water, how can it be used as a lubricant?

Viscosity is the friction between fluid layers. If friction between layers is more in oil (due to high viscosity) how can it be used to reduce friction??If oil is more viscous than water, how can it be used as a lubricant?
theres more to just viscosity like chemical build up,

Example, graphite, the carbon structure found in your pencil lead, grind it to a powder and you will find it is very smooth and can be use as lubricant in some application when it is a solid.. it is because it has a layer structure that allows it to side across one another...

But for the case of water and oil, i am thinking that maybe because the water is less viscous, when you apply on a surface and add an external force, the water spreads away more easily then oil when resist the external force more...

Example: Lubricanting Key Hole for Key, if you use water, and push the Key (External Force) into the key hole, because it has low viscosity, the pressure by the key easily forces the water away and the hole loses its lubricant. If you use oil, it will spread due to the pressure from the force, but not as much as water.

Not a concrete proven scientific answer but it sounds about right for me =)If oil is more viscous than water, how can it be used as a lubricant?
The viscoisty is not the key characteristic that makes oil and petrochemicals as lubricants desirable.

Watercan howver be used as a lubricant and indeed as a cutter- commonly as a carrier fluid for soaps, detergents etc- as in CNC machines, milling machines and metal lathes.

All these machines though- use petrochemical greases for their moving parts as it has superior heat transfer, higher evapouration point and better friction reduction qualities.
Yes, oil is more viscous than water. But you can't deny that its surface is slippery.

Oil will oppose the motion of a body moving INSIDE it,not OVER it.

It posseses a high value of internal friction(viscosity) but much lower value of external friction. So it is used as a lubricant because of its smooth surface.

    Isn't it miraculous !!

Can oil-based lubricant or oil damage the latex condom? How?

I had sex with my boyfriend (I'm 17, he's 18), and he used latex condom. Well, we have water-based lubricant, but he also used the Virgin Coconut Oil (I know you might laugh because this is not really supposed to be on the bed part... and it sucks I smelled of coconuts) but, he found a bottle and used it to massage me, and he used this on my vagina, but I couldn't remember if inserted his fingers (with the oil).

I read that oil or oil-based lubricants cannot be used for latex condoms. They damage the latex part and lose its effectiveness? How does it actually ';lose'; the effectiveness? Like, does it put holes in the condoms?

I am really worried I might be pregnant after months.. We used condoms the whole time we had sex, and the only time we didn't was that when he was trying he insert his penis without condom but we decided not to..

I'm worried. Do you think I can get pregnant?

Oh yeah, additional information, it's my 1st-2nd day after my menstruation. Can oil-based lubricant or oil damage the latex condom? How?
This is one of your least fertile times, so you're fine. It's petroleum based lubricants (like vasoline) that damage condoms. I don't know about oil based because they do make oil based sensual massage oils. Can oil-based lubricant or oil damage the latex condom? How?
Sex equals possible pregnancy. It could be.
As little as sixty seconds' exposure of commercial latex condoms to mineral oil, a common component of hand lotions and other lubricants used during sexual intercourse, caused approximately 90% decrease in the strength of the condoms, as measured by their burst volumes in the standard ISO (International Standards Organization) Air Burst Test. Burst pressures were also reduced, although less dramatically. Lubricants such as Vaseline Intensive Care and Johnson's Baby Oil, each containing mineral oil, also affected condom integrity. Five min. exposure of condoms to glycerol, a frequent component of hand lotions and 'personal lubricants', did not significantly affect burst volume or pressure. Aqueous nonoxynol-9 spermicide did not affect either burst index.
Oil based lubricants break down latex. Basically they make latex weak which could mean there were tiny holes but also it would be more susceptible to breaking.
Yes, it dissolves and weakens the latex

Uses of lubricant oil in electrical machines?

uUses of lubricant oil in electrical machines?
All machinery's having moving parts need lubrication immaterial it is electrical, mechanical, or nuclear.

Electrical machinery's like motor also needs lubrication at its rotating points.

The type of lubricating oil depends on load and speed.Uses of lubricant oil in electrical machines?
yeah no probs...oil the mechanical part...not the circuit of course...the machine will be smoother...
