Why are water-based lubricants better than oil-based? Are they?

All I ever hear about it that I should use a water-based lube, but it seems to dry off quickly. Why not just use, say, Vaseline? Why are water-based lubricants better than oil-based? Are they?
oil lube's can cause problems like infections and things if you do not clean your self properly after word and water base lube is easier clean up and less likely to cause infections but in the end it is your personal choice so use what you want good luckWhy are water-based lubricants better than oil-based? Are they?
because it gets inside you and stays in there for a while and causes bacteria to grow inside you and gives you infections water based is good cause it washes away when you pee and doesn't hurt you like oil lubs do best bet put on a lubed rubber and masterbate it also feels real good and less mess to clean up
Oil-based lubes degrade latex, and guess what's made of latex? Condoms!

If you're in a monogamous relationship and not using a condom then it doesn't really matter.
Um...ACTUALLY the real reason you shouldn't use oil based lubricants is because they can damage a condom. (Assuming you use one.) If you don't use a condom, then oil-based stuff should be okay.
Well oil-based is better, but some people have allergies against it. Usually water-based ones didn't have any side effects. If you are good with oil-based then have fun with it!
Vaseline sticks to the sheets, pillows clothes etc an can be hard to get rid off and therefore tend to harbour bacteria/fungi etc.
